| Mission Statement | We are a small non-profit dedicated to preservation of all local West Volusia County history with a special emphasis on local military history. We operate the military collections in the DeLand Memorial Hospital & Veterans Museum in DeLand Florida and I serve as military curator for the City of DeLand. We coordinate Memorial Day and Veterans Day Events help cleanup local African American veterans graves; and one major project we are now involved in is the return of a WW2 US Army ST small harbor tug from Sweden where it was sold off after WW2..It is coming home as it was built in DeLand in 1944! A huge donation helped us this year; normally our income is less than $50,000...but that money has brought ST479 Tiger to within 15 miles of home after a trip of over 4,900 miles... |
